The Department of Public Health was honored with the “Ending the Syndemic Organizational Award” from the California Department of Public Health at the “Ending the Syndemic Symposium” for the County’s work in addressing the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis C Virus, and other sexually transmitted infections. The team was recognized for its partnership in implementing the Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative, for developing a process for testing in emergency departments in partnership with Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, and a number of data-to-care innovations.
The process developed with ARMC is unique for being one of the first in California to implement testing within the emergency department. As a result, CDPH is now encouraging emergency departments throughout the state to develop their own testing programs.
