The residents of America’s largest county receive services that win more awards than those provided by any other county in America.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, joined by representatives of the county’s legislative delegation, on Tuesday formally recognized the county departments and employees responsible for creating and carrying out the 160 programs and services honored with 2023 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards.

The recognition was held at the Curtain of Courage Memorial, which was one of the county’s 160 award winners for 2023.

“The Board of Supervisors, your fellow employees, and the community are proud of you and grateful for the passion you bring to your jobs each day,” Board of Supervisors Chair and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe told the gathered county employees before all members of the board presented trophies to each of the more than 30 departments recognized by NACo.

Those 160 awards nearly doubled the number of NACo Achievement Awards the county won last year. For two years in a row, San Bernardino County has won more of these national awards than any other of the nation’s more than 3,000 counties.
