The San Bernardino County Probation Department celebrates the outstanding accomplishment of maintaining its National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) accreditation since 2011 for the Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center and Secured Youth Treatment Facility.

This achievement is a testament to the Probation Department’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of healthcare for incarcerated individuals within the county.

Since the Probation Department’s initial accreditation, there have been numerous implemented and improved programs to comply with the commission’s strict standards, which include Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder and Suicide Prevention and Chronic Disease Management programs. These and other initiatives have profoundly improved healthcare delivery within juvenile correctional facilities.

In the most recent NCCHC accreditation, the Probation Department’s healthcare programs were praised as “the best they have seen.” This accolade is a direct result of the multi-dimensional collaboration among medical, custody, mental health and dietary services within the Probation Department.
