San Bernardino County’s Department of Aging and Adult Services – Public Guardian (DAAS-PG) is assisting with the response to the Line and Bridge wildfires.
Since Sept. 5, over 150 DAAS-PG staff members initiated hundreds of safety calls to help older adults and individuals with disabilities, including those who are homebound or suffering from dementia-related illnesses, in affected areas. Staff dedicated over 1,000 hours to ensure San Bernardino County’s at-risk residents received the help they needed, from personal supplies and medications to emergency shelter.
On Sept. 18, the county deployed three Local Assistance Centers (LACs), a hub for county services, for those displaced and affected by the wildfires. DAAS-PG staff provided assessments, behavioral health and wellness services, and tangible resources like food and gas cards, generating dozens of new cases for the department. The department will continue to help new and existing clients recover from the wildfires.
