The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors encourages public participation in their meetings.

Meeting dates and location:

Board meetings are held in the Covington Chambers on the first floor of the County Government Center, located at 385 N. Arrowhead Ave. in San Bernardino.

Regular Board of Supervisors meetings are held on Tuesdays, per the adopted annual calendar of meetings and begin with a closed session at 9 a.m. and a public session at 10 a.m. View the annual calendar of meetings for scheduled meetings. Any exceptions to the location or start time of the meeting will be shown on the Board of Supervisors’ agenda.

Meeting agendas:

Board meeting agendas will contain a brief general description of each item of business to be conducted or discussed at the board meeting and are generally available for review by close of business the Friday before the Tuesday meeting. The meeting agenda and related documents can be viewed at sanbernardino.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx. Documents associated with agenda items may not include all related or updated data.

Live online access to view scheduled board meetings and archived board meeting videos are available on the SB County Broadcast Network as part of the board’s ongoing commitment to improved public access to county government information. 

Submit written comment to the board:

Written public comments may be submitted:

Written comments received after the posting of the agenda and prior to the start of the board meeting will be forwarded to the board for review. Any written comments received after the meeting begins and through the conclusion of the meeting will be provided to the board after the meeting adjourns. However, written comments received outside of those timeframes will not be forwarded to the board. Written comments relating to board meetings will also be posted online at cob.sbcounty.gov/brown-act-writings-received.

To provide comments to the Board of Supervisors outside of the agenda timeframes, please email COB@sbcounty.gov, and your comments will be forwarded to the board members.

Attend the meeting in person:

The public sessions of the board meeting are open for members of the public to attend. Free parking is available in designated public parking lots at the County Government Center located at 385 N. Arrowhead Ave., in San Bernardino.

If you require a reasonable modification or accommodation for a disability to attend a board meeting, please call the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at (909) 387-3841 or email at COB@sbcounty.gov to request an accommodation at least 72 hours prior to the board meeting.

Address the Board of Supervisors during public comment at a board meeting:

Any member of the public may address the board and provide public comment:

  • On an agenda item before or during the board’s consideration of the item.
  • On any matter not on the agenda that is within the subject matter jurisdiction of the board at the time provided on the agenda for public comment.

To share your public comments at a Board of Supervisors meeting:

Submit a completed request to speak form to the Clerk of the Board or their designee prior to the time the chair calls the item for the board’s consideration.

When you are called to speak by the chair, please step up to the rostrum to address the board.

Please also note the light on the podium. The colored lights on the podium indicate:

  • Green – Your time has begun; you are generally limited to three minutes of public comment for each item on the consent calendar and discussion calendar (unless different time limits are set by the chair or a majority of the board).
  • Yellow – You have one minute to summarize your comments.
  • Red – Your time is up.

The chair shall, in the interest of facilitating the business of the board, limit the total amount of time a member of the public may address the board on all agenda items to 12 minutes, unless the chair, or majority of the board, determines that a different limit is appropriate.

Brown Act writings received:

Pursuant to the Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code section 54957.5), writings received and submitted to the Board of Supervisors within 72 hours of the start of the next regularly scheduled board meeting are available for public review in the office of the Clerk of the Board. Comments relating to matters subject to board consideration or discussion are available online at cob.sbcounty.gov/brown-act-writings-received.
