The San Bernardino County Department of Public Health is thrilled to announce its selection as the official judge for the “Health and Safety” category in Esri’s annual GIS StoryMaps competition.

This esteemed opportunity comes as the department has consistently published high-quality, impactful StoryMaps for its presentations at the Esri User Conference, the world’s largest gathering of geographic information systems (GIS) professionals. The conference provides a platform for sharing innovative ideas, best practices and advancements in GIS, fostering collaboration and inspiration among attendees.

Esri’s ArcGIS StoryMaps Competition invites individuals and teams from around the world to reflect on what inspires them and build a vision for a better future. The Public Health team will evaluate submissions that creatively and effectively address key issues in health and safety, including community health, environmental health and social equity. StoryMaps are judged based on their storytelling impact, data visualization quality and the solutions proposed. Each entry represents a unique perspective on how GIS technology can address real-world health challenges.

“Our team has always been passionate about using GIS to advance public health, and we are honored to be selected as a judge this year,” said Joshua Dugas, director of the Department of Public Health. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to see how others approach public health challenges, and we look forward to recognizing entries that demonstrate both innovation and meaningful impact.”
