Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new hybrid angiography suite, a cutting-edge facility designed to revolutionize patient care through advanced imaging and surgical capabilities. This innovative hybrid operating room (OR) and bi-plane angiography suite will enhance the hospital’s ability to perform a wide range of complex procedures with precision and efficiency.
“The hybrid angiography suite underscores our dedication to innovation, enabling us to address the most challenging medical conditions with precision,” said ARMC Chief Executive Officer Andrew Goldfrach, FACHE. “This hybrid biplane angiography suite will serve as the primary operating room for open and endovascular neurosurgery, and it will have the capacity for all specialties that use angiography.”
Held on June 9, the groundbreaking ceremony marked a significant milestone in ARMC’s commitment to expanding top tier services. The hybrid angiography suite will integrate high-resolution imaging technologies, with a sterile surgical environment, enabling both minimally invasive and open surgical procedures in a single session. This advanced unit will support a broad spectrum of medical interventions, including:
- Cardiovascular procedures: Endovascular aneurysm repair, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, coronary angiography, stenting, and electrophysiology procedures like ablation for arrhythmias.
- Neurovascular interventions: Mechanical thrombectomy for stroke, cerebral aneurysm coiling, and arteriovenous malformation embolization.
- Vascular surgery: Peripheral vascular interventions, hybrid bypass procedures, and carotid artery stenting for stroke prevention.
- Thoracic and abdominal procedures: Hybrid thoracic surgeries, visceral artery interventions, and trauma surgery for rapid bleeding management.
- Oncology treatments: Transarterial chemoembolization and radioembolization (Y-90 therapy) for liver tumors.
- Orthopedic and spinal interventions: Complex spinal fusions with real-time imaging guidance.
The hybrid suite’s bi-plane angiography system will feature two X-ray cameras for simultaneous imaging from multiple angles, and will provide high-resolution, real-time visualization of blood vessels and other structures. This technology enhances procedural accuracy, reduces operating time, and minimizes radiation exposure, ensuring safer and more effective outcomes for patients.
Key benefits of the hybrid angiography suite include real-time precision; enhanced patient safety by minimizing patient transfers and improving outcomes; and streamlined workflows benefiting patients and providers.
