The Bloomington Recreation & Parks District hosted its first Senior Prom this year, bringing together 118 local seniors at the Ayala Park Community Center for an afternoon of music, dancing and connection.

The event welcomed guests with a red-carpet entrance, setting the tone for a festive and elegant afternoon. Inside, attendees enjoyed a catered meal provided by Family Service Association (FSA), live entertainment and professional photography courtesy of Rene Alexander. Guests spent the afternoon on the dance floor, mingling and reminiscing.

Board of Supervisors Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. joined the celebration to greet guests and share his support for the senior community. A highlight of the afternoon was the crowning of the 2025 prom king and queen.

More than just a party, the prom served as a meaningful opportunity for seniors to reconnect, make new friends and celebrate together. With its strong turnout and enthusiastic response, the event is already being talked about as a new annual tradition for Bloomington.

The Summer Senior Prom was a reminder of the value of community and the importance of creating joyful, inclusive spaces for residents of all ages.
