San Bernardino County has once again outdone itself, winning more national awards than ever before for innovation, efficiency and public service.
The county this month was honored with 257 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties, including a coveted Best in Category award, topping the record-setting 200 NACo awards it won in 2024.
For three consecutive years, San Bernardino County led the nation’s more than 3,000 counties in the number of annual Achievement Awards, indicating the nearly 2.2 million residents in America’s largest county are receiving the best, most innovative public services.
“Keeping residents safe and providing them with the opportunity to prosper and achieve wellbeing in such a vast and diverse county requires dedication and innovation,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. “San Bernardino County’s public service professionals have once again proven on the national stage that they are the best.”
Public Health claimed the largest share of the 257 awards with 33 for programs ranging from mobile vaccination clinics to preparing pet owners to cope with natural disasters. Public Works came in a close second place with 32 awards for programs ranging from the Big Bear Alpine Zoo animal evacuation during the Line Fire to mitigating flood risks in Wrightwood.
More than 30 of the county’s more than 40 departments and agencies claimed awards this year.
“The Board of Supervisors has made it clear that they are committed to investing in the people and ideas that move this county forward,” said San Bernardino County Chief Executive Officer Luther Snoke. “That’s why we continue to attract top talent, deliver results, and earn recognition at the state and national levels. It all comes down to the mindset of our workforce, hungry to serve, humble in approach, and ready to hustle for real impact on behalf of our residents.”
During the past 10 years, San Bernardino County has won more than 1,000 state and national awards for projects and programs serving county residents and working toward the achievement of the Countywide Vision.
Top-notch public service projects and innovative, effective programs are a big reason why there is So Much to Love about San Bernardino County!
