Celebrate Independence Day at Regional Parks

Don’t forget that our Regional Parks will be open on the Fourth of July. New park hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., arriving just in time for the holiday.
Park amenities include hiking trails, lakes, picnic shelters and tables with barbecue grills, playgrounds, splash pads, pool complexes and plenty of open spaces for group activities. Leashed pets are always welcome. Please join us at one of the following locations: Calico, Cucamonga-Guasti, Glen Helen, Mojave Narrows, Mojave River Forks, Prado or Yucaipa. Park admission is $20 per vehicle and free for those camping with us. Camping reservations can be made online at www.sbcountyparks.com.
Second Saturdays brings an immersive world of bubbles to Victor Valley Museum

Wave, swirl, blow and pull. Make, float and even stretch – discover all you can do with bubbles! Join us on Saturday, July 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Victor Valley Museum for Second Saturdays where you will have the opportunity to create giant bubbles, catch falling bubbles, or reach and pop bubbles. Don’t forget that frozen treats will be available for purchase too! Family fun guaranteed!
Victor Valley Museum is located at 11873 Apple Valley Road, Apple Valley. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (child ages 6 to 12). Young visitors can earn a free meal by participating in County Museum’s summer passport program

San Bernardino County Museum (SBCM) invites families to make the most of their summer with the launch of its all-new ‘Chill with Us’ summer passport program — an exciting initiative designed to encourage young learners to explore, engage and earn rewards all summer long.
“Summer at the museum is all about discovery, creativity and family,” said Curator of Education Eliana Zacarias. “The summer passport program is a fun way to reward young visitors for showing up, participating and making memories that last.”
From July through August, young museum visitors are invited to join Blizzard the Polar Bear as he travels through the museum for a chill summer adventure! Visitors who attend and participate in five (5) museum programs or events will receive a free meal voucher for Old Spaghetti Factory in Redlands, simply by collecting stamps in their summer passport. Passports are available beginning July 8 and can be picked up at SBCM’s admission desk.

Engage in STEAM Lab art activities
Get creative in our indoor and outdoor STEAM Lab spaces with hands-on art activities for all ages. Our lab offers multisensory arts experiences that emphasize self-expression and experimentation with science-inspired crafts, kids and kids at heart can take home their own mini masterpieces.

Join us every Saturday in July for cart talks where our education team and volunteers will be highlighting our fascinating artifacts, specimens and hands-on demos throughout the museum. Get up close and personal with your local natural and cultural history — please ask all the questions you’ve been wondering about!
Attend a summer event
Visit the museum for unforgettable summer nights under the stars―or under lights of friendly competition! The museum will extend their hours for the Through the Decades Trivia Night on Friday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. and Cosmic Nights is set to end the summer festivities on Saturday, August 30 from 7 – 10 p.m. Whether you’re a cosmic explorer or a trivia champ, there is something for everyone at the museum.
Enjoy family picnic lunches or play lawn games in the courtyard
Relax in our shaded outdoor courtyard with your own picnic lunch and enjoy the museum’s tranquil desert gardens, a historic train, and mining exhibits. Picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Families also can play corn hole, get creative with chalk and engage in other super-sized lawn games.
Support a frozen treat vendor
What’s summer without a little something cool and refreshing? Keep an eye out for pop-up frozen treat vendors on select weekends!
Each time a child attends a qualifying event or program, they can visit the front desk to get a stamp in their passport. Once five (5) stamps are collected, participants will receive a free Wally the Trolley meal voucher redeemable at Old Spaghetti Factory.
The program is designed to promote informal learning during the summer months while also supporting local businesses and building museum connections with young families across the region. Come chill with us — and make this summer one to remember! Families are encouraged to share their summer adventures on social media using #ChillatSBCM.

County Library invites the community to join Tales of Enchantment through summer reading

The San Bernardino County Library is proud to present this year’s Summer Reading Program, A Tale of Enchantment, an annual countywide initiative designed to inspire readers of all ages to continue developing their literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.
This program supports both the Countywide Vision’s literacy campaign, Vision2Read, and the county’s Opportunity campaign, which highlight efforts to improve quality of life through education, literacy and access to enriching experiences.
Participants are encouraged to log their reading and enjoy family-friendly performances hosted across the county’s 32 branch libraries. From live storytelling to interactive shows, the program brings communities together while promoting a lifelong love of reading.
“The Summer Reading Program is a beloved tradition that helps families stay connected, curious and inspired throughout the summer,” said County Librarian Melanie Orosco. “It’s more than just books—it’s about building literacy skills, imagination and community.”
The San Bernardino County Library system is dedicated to providing equal access to information, technology, and services that support the educational growth of residents across the region.

Equestrian Center hosts Children’s Equine Education Days

The Prado Equestrian Center is hosting a unique experience for kids ages 12 and under to spend a day on the ranch learning all about horses! Kids will have a chance to learn how to groom, feed and interact with a horse.
Dates include:

- Sept. 7
- Dec. 28
This event will be a fun introduction to horses and equestrian life for the whole family. Children will also get to paint their own horseshoe to take home as well as a certificate of completion.
A session is $35 for two (2) hours. The Prado Park Equestrian Center (PPEC) is located inside Prado Regional Park. The Equestrian Center’s entrance is located at 16629 Johnson Ave., Chino.

State Fishing Day: Casting 101

Art in the Park: Rainbow suncatchers

Get creative with us! Join the San Bernardino County Regional Parks’ team for a fun-filled day of crafting as we make beautiful rainbow suncatchers!
Bring the whole family and let your creativity shine as you design your own colorful masterpiece to hang in the sun. As we craft, we’ll also discover the magic of light refraction—learning how sunlight bends through different materials to create dazzling rainbow effects. Watch as your suncatcher transforms sunlight into a brilliant display of colors, brightening up your space and your day!
