Students at the Academy for Academic Excellence (AAE) in the Town of Apple Valley put their civic knowledge to the test during “High School Family Feud: Voter Education Edition,” hosted by the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters on Sept. 23. The event, held during National High School Voter Education Weeks, brought together AAE’s AP Government and AP U.S. History classes in a lively spin on the popular game show.

Two student teams – the “Founding Feuders” and “The AAElectors” – faced off in front of their peers and community guests, answering questions about the election process. The game emphasized the importance of early civic education, including how 16- and 17-year-olds can preregister to vote, ensuring they’re ready when they turn 18.

Registrar of Voters Joani Finwall praised the students’ enthusiasm: “Our younger generations shape the future of our communities, and seeing their eagerness to engage in a fun way on a complicated topic was wonderful.” She also presented the winning team with a special award and encouraged students to stay engaged.

This marks the second High School Family Feud: Voter Education Edition event, following a successful pilot last year at Rialto High School. The Registrar of Voters will continue this one-of-a-kind program during High School Voter Education Weeks to help students learn about voting and encourage them to become informed, active participants in future elections.
