Each year during the second week of October, San Bernardino County joins communities across California in recognizing Code Enforcement Officer Appreciation Week, a time to honor the dedication, professionalism and service of the County’s Code Enforcement officers who work tirelessly to protect our communities with care and integrity.
“It’s nice to have a week dedicated to acknowledging and recognizing the hard work Code Enforcement officers put in, and the dedication and service we provide to the community,” said Code Enforcement Officer Tim Pfalzgraff.
Code Enforcement officers play a vital role in maintaining the health, safety and quality of life in our neighborhoods. Even though their work often happens behind the scenes, it is essential for ensuring building and zoning compliance, preventing public health hazards and protecting property values.
From organizing community cleanup events and addressing illegal dumping to enforcing building safety requirements, abating graffiti, and tackling blight, San Bernardino County Code Enforcement officers work seven days a week to keep our communities safe, clean and well-maintained.
Sharing his perspective, Code Enforcement Officer Stephen Given said, “It’s a difficult job with little positive feedback. Having a Code Enforcement Appreciation Week lets us know that someone is taking notice and appreciating the job we do.”
Code Enforcement Chief Ignacio Nunez said, “Our officers show tremendous dedication every single day, often dealing with complex and challenging situations that most people never see. This week gives us a chance to pause and recognize their commitment to public service and improving the quality of life across San Bernardino County.”
This October, we proudly thank all Code Enforcement officers for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to keeping San Bernardino County a safe, clean, and thriving place to live, work, and play.
