One Tap Closer to Preparedness with the Ready SB County App

When the ground shakes, being ready makes all the difference. On October 16 at 10:16 a.m., San Bernardino County joined millions of Californians for the 2025 Great ShakeOut, practicing how to drop, cover and hold on during an earthquake.

This year’s ShakeOut also marked the launch of the new and improved Ready SB County App, created by the San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services. The app helps residents stay informed before, during and after emergencies with real-time alerts, interactive hazard maps, evacuation zones, safety check-ins, and quick access to trusted local resources. It is a free, easy-to-use tool that puts preparedness right at your fingertips anytime, anywhere.

Countywide participation snapshot

Preparedness was truly a community effort during this year’s Great ShakeOut. Across San Bernardino County, departments, cities, schools and partner agencies came together to practice earthquake safety and strengthen local resilience.

More than 46,000 students and staff, along with thousands of County employees, participated, showing what preparedness looks like when we all work together to keep our communities safe.

Shake or treat: A shaking success

Emergency Services also teamed up once again with the San Bernardino County Museum for the annual Shake or Treat event, a day filled with community connection and emergency preparedness fun.

Families visited the Emergency Services’ booth to receive a free earthquake preparedness comic book, experience the Seismic Simulator, and attend one of two Emergency Preparedness talks led by Emergency Services’ staff. Children learned about safety through interactive coloring activities, while parents gained practical tips to stay ready before, during and after a disaster.

From safety tips to family learning, the event highlighted how preparedness can be both fun and empowering. Emergency Services thanks the dedicated staff, volunteers and partners who made the event possible, and all the residents who joined us in making preparedness a shared priority across San Bernardino County.

Take your next step toward readiness and download the Ready SB County App in the App Store or Google Play today to stay connected, informed and one tap closer to preparedness. Visit prepare.sbcounty.gov for more information.
