Veterans who receive disability compensation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are seeing higher monthly payments and expanded home loan limits as part of recent benefit updates.
A 2.8 percent increase in monthly disability compensation took effect Dec. 1 as part of the annual cost-of-living adjustment, known as COLA. The increase applies to all disability ratings, with additional compensation for dependents beginning at the 30 percent disability rating level. Updated VA disability compensation rates are available on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website.
In addition to the COLA increase, eligible veterans will see expanded homeownership opportunities through the VA Home Loan Guaranty Program.
Beginning Jan. 1, the baseline VA loan limit for a one-unit property in San Bernardino County increased by approximately 3.3 percent, rising from $806,500 in 2025 to $832,750. The higher limit allows qualifying veterans to purchase homes valued up to $832,750 with no down payment.
Veterans seeking more information about the VA Home Loan Guaranty Program or other available benefits can visit va.sbcounty.gov or call 866-472-8387.
