The county’s Land Use Services and Community Development and Housing departments have applied for the state’s Prohousing Designation Program through the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
This program recognizes jurisdictions that go beyond state housing requirements to accelerate development. Jurisdictions with this designation receive faster application processing and higher priority when competing for housing-related grants. The county’s application compiles previously adopted policies that encourage housing development.
The application is available online for public review and comment through March 1. Residents can submit feedback by emailing LUS Planner Vivian Nguyen at Vivian.Nguyen@lus.sbcounty.gov.
The community also has an opportunity to provide input in person during public comment at Board of Supervisors meetings at the San Bernardino Government Center on March 24 and June 23.
