Code Enforcement to host community cleanup events in desert communities

Code Enforcement and the Solid Waste Management Division will host a Community Cleanup event for residents of unincorporated areas only.
San Bernardino County Code Enforcement and the Solid Waste Management Division will be hosting free bulky item disposal events for residents of the countyโs unincorporated areas. These events will provide containers within these specific communities for trash, e-waste, tires and on-site confidential document shredding. No business or commercial materials will be accepted.

Participants must unload their own materials. Oversized or hard-to-handle loads may be turned away and directed to dispose of items at their own expense.

Hit the Books heads into final inning; readers still have time to earn free 66ers tickets
With just days left on the scoreboard, young readers still have time to slide into home. The Hit the Books Reading Program, a partnership between the San Bernardino County Library and the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino, is heading into the final inning and will remain open through Saturday, March 7, 2026. That means families still have a chance to step up to the plate and turn their reading streaks into a grand slam of free baseball tickets.
Since launching Jan. 26, the program has invited children and teens ages 0 to 17 to knock childhood literacy out of the park. The game plan is simple: for every five books read and logged in Beanstack โ along with a checkout receipt showing five books borrowed from a county library branch โ participants earn a special Hit the Books bookmark.
And that bookmark is their ticket to the big leagues.
Each bookmark can be redeemed for two free Inland Empire 66ers baseball game tickets at the teamโs ticket office. Readers can round the bases up to three times during the program, earning as many as three bookmarks โ good for two and potentially up to six tickets per child. For families looking to fill the stands this summer, thatโs a home run opportunity.
Thereโs no purchase necessary to participate, and bookmarks cannot be combined with any other offer. All earned bookmarks must be redeemed by Aug. 30, 2026.
Library staff across county branches are still in the dugout cheering participants on, helping young readers keep their eye on the ball as they log books and collect receipts. Whether itโs picture books, graphic novels or chapter books, every completed title moves readers one base closer to crossing home plate.
With the final pitch approaching, organizers are encouraging families not to strike out on the chance. Thereโs still time to dig in, swing for the fences and score a memorable game-day experience โ proving once again that when libraries and baseball team up, everyone wins.
