County, A Community of Friends celebrate Liberty Lane ribbon-cutting in Redlands

Local leaders and project partners joined A Community of Friends for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating Liberty Lane, a new affordable housing community serving veterans and individuals with special needs.

San Bernardino County joined A Community of Friends (ACOF) to celebrate the official ribbon-cutting of Liberty Lane, an affordable housing community serving veterans and individuals with special needs.

The ceremony brought together local leaders and project partners to formally recognize the community, which began welcoming residents in December 2025. Liberty Lane features 80 affordable homes, including 62 permanent supportive housing units dedicated to homeless and at-risk veterans.

Speakers at the event included Board of Supervisors Chairman and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe, ACOF President and CEO Dora Leong Gallo, Redlands Mayor Mario Saucedo, representatives from the offices of Assemblymember James C. Ramos and Congressman Pete Aguilar, along with project and community partners. A Liberty Lane resident also shared remarks highlighting the impact of stable housing.

“This project demonstrates our dedication to supporting veterans in our community, many of whom have faced housing challenges,” said Rowe. “Liberty Lane provides a safe and stable place to live along with the supportive services residents need to rebuild their lives. This is our way of giving back to those who have given so much.”

Liberty Lane was developed by ACOF with support from the San Bernardino County Community Development and Housing Department, the Department of Behavioral Health, the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino, Loma Linda VA Medical Center and U.S. VETS.

San Bernardino County contributed $6 million in funding through a combination of federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds, along with state and local housing resources. This investment reinforces the county’s commitment to expanding housing opportunities for veterans and vulnerable populations.

Residents have access to supportive services including case management, behavioral health care, clinical services and rental assistance through Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing vouchers. By combining these services with stable housing, Liberty Lane represents a key step in ongoing efforts to combat homelessness and expand access to permanent supportive housing.
