On Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, the San Bernardino County Library system welcomed the citizens of Rialto and beyond to a special ribbon-cutting event, revealing two brand new meeting rooms for the public to enjoy.

The meeting rooms feature state-of-the-art technology, including conference-style meeting tables and televisions for projecting presentations. The rooms can accommodate two groups of up to eight people for a larger meeting, but each room includes a partition that allows for smaller groups to meet as well, offering space for up to four separate groups.

Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis during regular library hours. In order to secure a room, patrons must have a San Bernardino County Library card, which is free for California residents. Residents who do not have a library card can begin the application process by visiting the San Bernardino County Library website.

The residents of Rialto and all of San Bernardino County are thrilled to have a warm, quiet, inviting place to study for college exams, meet with homeschool advisors, focus on entrepreneurial pursuits, and much more.

Board of Supervisors Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr., Mayor Joe Baca, Sr., and the members of the Rialto City Council showed boundless support for this project. At the ribbon-cutting event, Vice Chair Baca shared his recollection of the first time he stepped in the library when he was five years old, noting the importance of the library’s role in building community, shaping leaders and supporting residents.

The event attracted over 100 attendees, all of whom showed excitement to use the meeting rooms in the near future. County Librarian Melanie Orosco said, “We hope the community takes full advantage of these great new amenities, continues to feel welcome, and invites others to grow their love for literacy as well.”
