San Bernardino County’s first major wildfire of the year is burning just south of Apple Valley and Lucerne Valley.
Driven by strong winds and low humidity, the Ranch Fire ignited on Tuesday afternoon and in less than 12 hours had consumed more than 4,000 acres, threatening homes and forcing evacuations.
The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, the Sheriff’s Department and the County Office of Emergency Services are among the agencies working on the incident, along with Cal Fire, the Apple Valley Fire Protection District and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
