Bloomington’s fourth annual National Night Out at Ayala Park on Aug. 5 featured a special moment—the unveiling of the new Veterans Monument, honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes.

The ceremony began with the Presentation of Colors by the U.S. Marine Corps from the Fontana Recruiting Station, followed by the National Anthem sung by Adalia De Luna. San Bernardino County Assistant Executive Officer Michael Vu highlighted how the monument adds a meaningful place for reflection in the park, standing alongside features like the newly opened splash pad.

U.S. Navy veteran and community supporter Dave Jayne, who championed the idea, shared his vision for a space where Bloomington can “remember, honor and care” for its veterans. Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. joined Vu and Jayne in the countdown to reveal the monument, greeted by applause from the crowd.

Built from durable steel, aluminum and concrete, the monument will stand for generations as a symbol of gratitude for those who have served.
