The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved an amendment to its 2026 annual meeting calendar to relocate its regular meeting on Feb. 24 to the Highland Police Department, located at 26985 Base Line St. Closed session will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the public session at 8 a.m.
Grant supports San Bernardino Wellness Campus interim housing
The San Bernardino County Community Development and Housing Department is entering into a revocable grant agreement with Lutheran Social Services of Southern California in an amount not to exceed $1.48 million to support the construction of 140 new interim housing units at the San Bernardino Wellness Campus. The facility, located on North G Street in the city of San Bernardino, will serve individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness with wraparound health care, housing navigation and supportive services.
The grant is funded by the Housing and Homelessness Incentive Program (HHIP) to address an approximately $3.28 million funding gap created by new state solar infrastructure requirements and utility connection fees. Community Development and Housing is also entering into a subordination agreement with Lutheran Social Services of Southern California and the city of San Bernardino, which is contributing $1.8 million in Permanent Local Housing Allocation funds to close the project funding gap.
By supporting completion of the Wellness Campus, which will provide shelter and a range of social services for individuals experiencing homelessness, the county is making continued progress toward the housing and wellness goals of the Countywide Vision.
Medi-Cal outreach and virtual enrollment services enhanced
The board approved a $1.02 million contract with PointCare to streamline Medi-Cal application and coverage management services for Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC). The agreement, effective March 1, 2026, through Feb. 28, 2029, will allow ARMC to offer patients a virtual enrollment platform known as Vance, helping eligible individuals apply for and maintain Medi-Cal coverage.
PointCare’s dedicated call center will coordinate directly with county eligibility staff to complete the enrollment process, expanding patient access to health care while supporting ARMC reimbursement for services provided.
This effort supports the Countywide Vision’s wellness goal by expanding access to health care services for residents in need through Medi-Cal benefit enrollment.
Neonatal care partnership
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is entering into a non-financial letter of agreement with Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital to maintain required regional neonatal intensive care unit cooperation. The agreement is effective March 1, 2026, through Feb. 28, 2031, and establishes Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital as Arrowhead Regional Medical Center’s regional NICU affiliate, as required by California Children’s Services.
The partnership supports consultation, referrals, education, coordinated patient transport and access to higher levels of neonatal care when needed. Each facility remains financially responsible for services provided at its respective location, and no discretionary general funding is required to support the partnership.
County Fire renews mutual aid agreement with Edwards Air Force Base
Acting as the governing body of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, the board approved a non-financial mutual aid agreement with Edwards Air Force Base to continue reciprocal fire, rescue and emergency response services. The agreement is effective Feb. 25, 2026, through Feb. 24, 2031, and allows both agencies to provide personnel, equipment and emergency assistance as needed, supporting rapid and cost-effective response along shared service boundaries.
The partnership helps to achieve the Countywide Vision by working collaboratively to ensure that communities are safe, educated and prepared to mitigate, respond to and recover from man-made and natural threats to public safety of any scale.
