The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed October as National Archives Month to highlight the importance of preserving historical documents and promoting public access to archival resources. This observance emphasizes the role of archives in maintaining the collective memory of communities and supporting transparency in government.
The mission of the San Bernardino County Historical Archives is to identify, collect, preserve and maintain records and historical materials pertaining to San Bernardino County. The Archives serves as both a repository for these unique documents and as a resource center open to the public and county staff.
“Heartfelt thanks to the County Archives department for their unwavering commitment to preserving our county history,” said Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Chris Wilhite who has oversight of the County Archives. “Their hard work ensures that vital documents and stories are kept alive for future generations to explore and cherish.”
