Today, Oct. 22, is the deadline for citizens to register to vote for the 2018 Statewide General Election. Voters who are already registered should re-register to vote if they have changed their signature, name, address, or party affiliation.
Voters can check their registration status by visiting SBCountyElections.com and logging into the My Elections (M.E.) Gateway application. Registered voters can also use M.E. Gateway to find their polling place, voting districts, and other personalized election information.
Citizens may register to vote online at SBCountyElections.com. Voter registration applications are also available at the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters and throughout San Bernardino County at post offices, city clerks’ offices, county libraries, and the Department of Motor Vehicles. A map of these locations is available on the Registrar of Voters website.
Citizens who miss the Oct. 22 voter registration deadline still have an opportunity to register and vote in this election. A new California law allows for this conditional voter registration option beginning Oct. 23 through Election Day.
A conditional voter registration application must be submitted in person on or before Election Day at the Registrar of Voters or at one of the five other early vote sites. After completing a voter registration application, the voter will be provided with a provisional ballot to vote at that location. I just filled out my mail in ballot for the March 3rd Primary In California. I am very disappointed that my party affiliation (American Independent) PREVENTED me from voting for the CURRENT President Donald J Trump. I know that California likes to consider themselves a Democratic State, but DENYING me my RIGHT to vote for my choice of Presidential Candidate goes against my rights!
I chose the Independent party so that I would get information in the mail about all party candidates so that I could make an informed choice. Now, California has taken away my right to select candidates I choose, NOT MY PARTY’S choice.
When my husband was alive, he chose Democrat and I chose Republican so that we could have information from both parties and make informed choices. Please go back to the ballot that lists ALL candidates for each office WITH their party affiliations by their names. California has FORGOTTEN how the non Politicians living here think.
In California, the Republican Party, the Green Party and the Peace and Freedom party requires voters to register in their party to vote in their primaries. You could have registered as a Republican and voted in their primary and then you could have changed your voter registration back the next day if you wanted to. In California, you can request a Democratic, American Independent and Libertarian ballot without changing your party affiliation.
