The Phelan Road bridge was damaged by an intense tropical storm and has been closed to vehicular traffic since the end of August. Understanding how important this road is to the High Desert community, the Board of Supervisors and county leadership prioritized this emergency repair. Working closely together with the partner agencies, the Public Works Department fixed the damage and opened the road prior to the holidays in December. Public Works would like to express its gratitude to the community, partner agencies and county leadership for their collaborative efforts that enabled the department to complete this repair work in an impressively short timeframe.
