Sheriff Shannon Dicus emphasized the importance of acting quickly, saying, “When we issue an evacuation order, it’s for your safety. We don’t want anyone to wait too long and risk their lives when the fire is closing in.”
County Fire Chief Dan Munsey also stressed the critical need for cooperation, “The sooner residents evacuate, the better our chances are of defending structures and containing the fire without putting additional lives at risk.”
Ultimately, evacuation orders are not issued lightly. They are based on real-time assessments of fire behavior, weather conditions and potential threats to human life. Residents need to heed these orders without delay to stay safe and to allow firefighters and emergency responders to focus on their life-saving work.
