For the November 5, 2024, General Election, the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters engaged two well-known community champions in helping us remember the roles we can all play in supporting our democracy.

Pastor Samuel J. Casey, founding pastor of New Life Christian Church and executive director of C.O.P.E., and Luz Gallegos, executive director of TODEC, are sharing important election year reminders with county residents. They are featured in online videos, social media and billboards encouraging residents to register to vote, explaining the four ways to cast a ballot, how residents can get involved in the community and more.

“Whether you need to register to vote, apply to be a poll worker, update your information, or want to know what’s on the ballot, we are here to help,” said San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters Stephenie Shea. “We talk about all of us being part of Team Democracy and we are so grateful to Pastor Casey and Luz Gallegos helping us take this message to our community.”

For several years, both Pastor Casey and Gallegos have championed voter education within the African American and Latino communities, and their organizations help bring trusted resources to residents, neighborhood by neighborhood. Pastor Casey’s work as the executive director of C.O.P.E. is vital in training clergy and community members across the Inland Empire to protect and revitalize their communities. Gallegos remains instrumental in her role at TODEC, filling in the gaps for the Latino community through free legal clinics, classes and civic engagement programs that help families become involved and active in their communities.

Be on the lookout throughout the county for encouragement and tips from our community champions. Find them on billboards, our social media and our YouTube channel in the coming weeks. Any questions? Visit Elections.SBCounty.gov for information on the election and how you can get involved.
