San Bernardino County Animal Care, in collaboration with the County Library, proudly presents the Telling Tails Reading Program! This unique initiative connects young readers with our shelter animals, fostering growth, confidence and compassion in our community.

Why Telling Tails?

  • Boost Literacy: Kids aged 6 to 14 can enhance their reading skills in a relaxed, judgment-free environment by reading to our furry friends.
  • Calm Companions: The soothing presence of young voices helps our animals feel more comfortable and ready for their forever homes.

Program Overview:

  • Age Group: Open to children 6 to 14 years old.
  • Schedule: One hour per week, tailored to fit your family’s calendar.
  • Location: Devore Animal Shelter, 19777 Shelter Way, San Bernardino.
  • Parent/Guardian Required: A parent or guardian must accompany the child during reading sessions.

How to Get Involved:
