San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) hosted the Youth Engagement and Enrichment Program (YEEP) in 2024.

For many children, summer is a time of adventure, growth and new experiences. But for youth in foster care, who often face uncertainty and instability, access to enriching summer activities can be limited. That’s why San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) is proud to host two Youth Engagement and Enrichment Program (YEEP) kickoff events, offering youth in foster care a gateway to exciting summer camp opportunities.

Taking place in both the High Desert and San Bernardino, these events are designed exclusively for San Bernardino County’s youth in foster care and their resource families. Attendees will enjoy an afternoon filled with fun activities, including games, a photo booth and food trucks. More importantly, the events will connect youth in foster care with various summer camps tailored to their interests and developmental needs, providing them with an opportunity to build friendships, develop life skills and simply have fun in a supportive environment.

For children in foster care, summer camps aren’t just about recreation – they are a chance to heal, grow and create lasting memories. Research has shown that experiences like summer camp help boost self-confidence, improve social skills and provide a sense of normalcy that is essential for a child’s well-being. By participating in YEEP, youth in foster care can explore different camps that focus on everything from outdoor adventures to creative arts and leadership development.

CFS is committed to ensuring that every youth in foster care in the county has access to these life-changing opportunities. The YEEP kickoff events serve as a launching point, helping families navigate the enrollment process and find the best fit for their child’s needs and interests.

If you know a child in foster care who could benefit from this experience, please contact CFS at 909-388-0242.
