The Bloomington community celebrated Bloomington Little League Opening Ceremonies and the ribbon-cutting for the Dream Field, marking a major milestone for local youth sports.

The event featured Board of Supervisors Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr., Assemblymember Robert Garcia, County CEO Luther Snoke, members of the Bloomington Municipal Advisory Council (MAC), and former Los Angeles Dodgers Steve Garvey and Manny Mota.

Baca, Jr. emphasized the park’s role in fostering youth development, teamwork and community spirit, calling the Dream Field an investment in future leaders.

Kessler Park has undergone significant improvements, including:

  • Renovated snack bar and restrooms with a shade canopy.
  • New corridor project featuring walkways, Dodger-blue fencing, free Wi-Fi, improved drainage and picnic shelters.
  • Solar lighting at the basketball court and Linden parking lot, plus an upgraded BBQ at the main picnic shelter.

The state-of-the-art Dream Field now boasts:

  • Turf field with a moveable mound.
  • Vinyl-coated fences, safety mesh and brick backstops.
  • New dugouts, shade structures and a Dodgers-inspired scoreboard.
  • Full drainage, irrigation and cooling system.
  • The Blue Monster Wall – 20 feet tall and 120 feet wide.

Funded by the Bloomington Community Benefit/Improvement Reserve and the Fifth District Priorities Program, the project was successfully completed by LA Engineering.

“With the success of Ayala Park’s renovation and now these upgrades at Kessler Park, we are committed to bringing new opportunities, energy, and pride to Bloomington,” said Supervisor Baca, Jr.

The Bloomington Recreation and Park District remains dedicated to providing high-quality recreational spaces. As the first pitch was thrown, it was clear—Kessler Park’s transformation is more than just a renovation; it’s a promise to future generations. Play ball!
