The Probation Department provides an innovative Driving Simulator program to equip youth with valuable life skills.

The San Bernardino County Probation Department is committed to providing innovative programs that equip youth in our care with valuable life skills. One such initiative, the Driving Simulator program, is helping young individuals develop the knowledge and experience needed to become safe and responsible drivers.

Funded by San Bernardino County at the start of the 2024-2025 fiscal year, this program offers a virtual, hands-on approach to driver education, allowing participants to learn at their own pace. In collaboration with Young Visionaries, the California Highway Patroland Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the program focuses on fundamental driving skills, including vehicle control, parking, checking blind spots, and risk awareness. Additionally, youth learn about the dangers of impaired driving, the risks of riding with impaired drivers and the long-term consequences of substance-related incidents.

This program is about more than just driving, it’s about fostering responsibility, awareness, and sound decision-making skills that will benefit participants throughout their lives. By equipping youth with these essential skills, Probation is helping them reintegrate into their communities and build a foundation for a brighter future.
