We would like to thank Gary Mumaw of Rancho Cucamonga for submitting spectacular photos of his favorite San Bernardino County destination.
The San Gorgonio Wilderness stretches across the San Bernardino Mountains, where the terrain shifts from foothills and canyons to steep and rugged mountains. Meadows, small lakes and seasonal streams are scattered throughout the wilderness. The region is home to a variety of wildlife, including bears, deer, mountain lions and bighorn sheep, as well as several threatened and endangered species.
More than 20 miles of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail pass through the Bureau of Land Managementโs portion of the wilderness while 81 miles of trails wind through the San Bernardino National Forest. To learn more, visit the Bureau of Land Managementโs website.
