As part of a lifesaving collaboration with Wings of Rescue, six dogs from San Bernardino County Animal Care took to the skies on April 3, headed for second chances in loving homes.
Behind the scenes, this effort represents countless hours of coordination, preparation and teamwork. Animal Care staff carefully evaluate each pet for transport eligibility, complete medical checks, prepare documentation, and ensure every animal is safely and comfortably secured for travel.
From early planning to final boarding, the process reflects the dedication, coordination and compassion that staff and partners bring to every transport. These rescue flights play an important role in helping relieve shelter capacity while creating new opportunities for pets in regions with higher adoption demand. By working with trusted partners, Animal Care is able to extend its reach beyond the local community and connect pets with families ready to welcome them home.
Each transport is designed with the animalsโ well-being in mind. From selecting dogs that are ready for travel to meeting all health and safety requirements, staff work diligently to make the transition as smooth as possible. The result is more than just a flight. It is a pathway to a new beginning.
Efforts like this also help support pets who remain in the shelters by creating space and resources for incoming animals in need. It is a meaningful example of how collaboration and preparation can make a lasting difference for animals across the region.
Animal Care extends sincere thanks to the Animals aRe First Fund (ARFF) for purchasing the hard crates used for this rescue flight, helping ensure the safety and comfort of each dog throughout the journey.
Community support continues to play a vital role in sustaining these lifesaving efforts. Those interested in helping make future rescue flights possible by providing hard crates are encouraged to consider donating through ARFF at arffund.org.
