Animal Control Appreciation Week is nationally recognized during the second full week of April, honoring the vital work of Animal Control Officers (ACOs) and staff who serve on the front lines of public safety and animal welfare.

As part of Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, San Bernardino County Animal Care proudly recognizes the contributions of our ACOs. These dedicated professionals are first responders for animals in need—rescuing the lost, preventing cruelty, providing lifesaving care and educating the public. With bravery, compassion and unwavering commitment, they work in challenging conditions to protect the safety and welfare of both animals and our community.

“We deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of our Animal Control Officers, who go above and beyond to safeguard both animals and residents in our community,” said George Harding, IV, division chief of Animal Care. “This week, we honor their commitment, bravery, and compassion, and extend our gratitude for their invaluable service.”

Animal Care invites members of the community to join us in celebrating Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week by showing appreciation for the hardworking men and women who protect and serve our community’s animals. Together, let’s recognize their contributions and honor their dedication to making our community a safer and more compassionate place for all.

Hear directly from our officers as they share what inspired them to pursue this career, the rewarding moments they’ve experienced, and the unique challenges they navigate each day.
