Equestrian Center hosts Children’s Equine Education Days

Enroll your child to learn more about horses at the Prado Park Equestrian Center’s Equine Education Days event.
The Prado Equestrian Center is hosting a unique experience for kids ages 12 and under to spend a day on the ranch learning all about horses! Kids will have a chance to learn how to groom, feed and interact with a horse.
Dates include:
- July 13
- Sept. 7
- Dec. 28
This event will be a fun introduction to horses and equestrian life for the whole family! Children will also get to paint their own horseshoe to take home as well as a certificate of completion.
A session is $35 for two (2) hours. The Prado Park Equestrian Center (PPEC) is located inside Prado Regional Park. The Equestrian Center’s entrance is located at 16629 Johnson Ave., Chino.

Yucaipa Regional Park kicks off summer, swim season with family-friendly event

Regional Parks along with the County Library and County Museum invites all ages to a family-friendly Summer Kick-Off event at Yucaipa Regional Park on Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will be filled with a live animal presentation by Wild Man Dan, arts & crafts, group games, giant bubbles and more.
The Library Adventure Bus will be on-site with books, games, giveaways and more. Food vendors will be on-site for hungry appetites or bring your own picnic lunch, blankets and chairs.
Swim Complex
This event coincides with the opening of swim season and the swim complex will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is advised to arrive early to buy swim tickets as a line forms as early as 7:30 a.m. when the park opens. The new admission price is $20 per vehicle and free for those camping with us.
Yucaipa Regional Park offers a beautiful and serene backdrop with swimming, fishing, picnicking, hiking, biking, disc golf, enjoying our playground or even renting a pedal boat to enjoy the lake. Make a day out of it and pack a lunch for grilling or just chilling with family and friends.
Yucaipa Regional Park is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is located at 33900 Oak Glen Rd. in Yucaipa.

Regional Parks swim season begins Memorial Day weekend with a splash

The 2025 swim season officially opens on Saturday, May 24 at Glen Helen and Yucaipa regional parks and will remain open through Labor Day weekend. Swim hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
New Swim Fees (effective May 12, 2025)
New prices include use of splash pad and waterslides at Glen Helen and the waterslides at Yucaipa.
- Non-holiday, holiday weekends and special events: Daily: $15
- Holidays, holiday weekends: $20 (Example of a holiday weekend is if the holiday is on a
Friday, the price applies to the Saturday and Sunday that follows. If the holiday is on a
Monday, the price applies to the Saturday and Sunday that leads up to the Monday
holiday.)
- Children under age three (3) are free.
- Must be at least 48″ (inches) tall to ride the slides.
Park and swim facility admission fees are separate. Park admission is $10 per vehicle Monday-Friday and $15 per vehicle on weekends. Holidays and holiday weekends are $20 per vehicle. Holiday weekends depend on what day the holiday lands on. For instance, if the holiday lands on a Friday, then a holiday weekend is considered Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If a holiday lands on a Monday, then the holiday weekend is considered Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Swim entry is first-come, first-served and reservations are not accepted. Lines for the pool entrance begin to form as early as 7:30 a.m. when the parks gates open, once the wristbands are sold out, the pool will reach capacity and will close to new arrivals. ARMC’s free 5k Walk/Run provides fitness and fun

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is holding its annual 5k Walk/Run and Health Expo on Saturday, May 31, at 400 N. Pepper Ave. in Colton. The Walk/Run is a community outreach event designed to raise interest in regular physical exercise. Did you know nearly 70 percent of adults in our county struggle with weight? ARMC conducts many activities to improve the health of our community including a weekly Farmers Market held on Wednesdays in front of the hospital, a wellness app that encourages physical and mental health, and healthy food offerings in our hospital cafeteria. A sedentary lifestyle is a risk factor for many health problems. Since overweight children are more likely to become overweight or obese adults, encouraging a healthy body weight can have positive impacts on health. Explore the night sky: County Museum announces Cosmic Nights in 2025

Wondering what’s out there in the night sky? San Bernardino County Museum (SBCM) in partnership with the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers (SBVAA), invites the community to discover the wonders of the night sky in a series of after-hours events designed for all ages.
Beginning Saturday, May 31, SBCM will host stargazing events on select nights throughout the year. Visitors will have the chance to peer through high-powered telescopes and hear from SBVAA as they reveal the secrets of the universe.
“These events are all about inspiring curiosity and connecting our community to the beauty of the cosmos,” said Curator of Education Eliana Zacarias. “Whether you’re a budding astronomer or just want a peaceful night under the stars, Cosmic Nights are a great way to enjoy science in a hands-on, engaging way.”

The San Bernardino County Museum is located at 2024 Orange Tree Lane, at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (child ages 6 to 12). Children five and under are admitted free. Museum members receive a 50% admission discount. Parking is free and the museum is accessible to people with disabilities.
The San Bernardino County Museum’s exhibits of regional, cultural and natural history and the Museum’s other exciting events and programs reflect the effort by the Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating arts, culture and education in the county, creating quality of life for residents and visitors.
About San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers: Founded in 1958, the goals of the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers (SBVAA) have been to organize amateur astronomers in the San Bernardino Valley area, increase their knowledge and excitement in astronomy and spread that knowledge to the community. Members of the SBVAA can attend regular club meetings, local and distant star parties, hear guest speakers’ presentations and participate in other special events. Meetings and events include a wide range of topics such as basic backyard observing, deep space observing, telescope setups and astrophotography. SBVAA welcomes novice and seasoned astronomers, young and old.
Family Fish & Wildlife Festival returns to Prado Regional Park June 7

Join Regional Parks for the 4th annual Family Fish & Wildlife Festival at Prado Regional Park on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The festival is a family-friendly event that provides hands-on fishing workshops with fishing supplies provided, live demonstrations, animal exhibits, food booths, live music and more.
Activities include archery lessons, games, face painting, arts & crafts, biking and more.
We encourage eventgoers to bring their own chairs, food and snacks and spend the day with us. Food trucks will be on-site for hungry appetites as well.
All ages are welcome! Leashed pets are welcome too!
Park admission is $15 per vehicle and free for those camping with us. Camping reservations can be made online at www.sbcountyparks.com.

County shelters celebrate California Adopt-a-Pet with free adoptions

On Saturday, June 7, San Bernardino County’s animal shelters in Big Bear and Devore will join more than 150 shelters across California in offering free adoptions as part of the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day. The event is hosted by the California Animal Welfare Association (CalAnimals), the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SF SPCA), and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). This year’s goal is to place 5,000 pets into loving homes statewide.
The Devore Animal Shelter will host a special celebration featuring free pet adoptions all day, a photo booth, vendor and resource tables (10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.), and Kona Ice available for purchase—with free treats for the first 30 adopters (11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.).
All pet adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip and receive most vaccines.
Both Devore and Big Bear animal shelters are open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on June 7.

Child Support Service representatives will be at the Joshua Tree Community Resource Fair

On Wednesday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Child Support professionals will be at the Joshua Tree Community Resource Fair to meet with you! At the event, we will be available to help you open a new case, make case modifications, learn how to qualify for the debt reduction program, and answer case-specific questions.
The following community resources will also be available to assist:

- VITA – Tax preparation assistance (by appointment or first come, first served)
- Valley Star Behavioral Health – Mental health-enhanced case management
- Morongo Unified School District – Instructional services, community presentation, registration for students
