Fireworks can be fun for us—but frightening for pets. Keep your furry friends safe this Fourth of July with simple precautions to reduce stress and avoid hazards.

The Fourth of July is an exciting time to celebrate with family and friends, but it can be a stressful and potentially dangerous experience for our furry companions. With fireworks being a prominent part of the festivities, it’s important to take extra precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our pets. Here are some essential tips to keep in mind:

  • Take your dog for a walk early in the day – they’ll be easier to handle and calmer overall.
  • Make sure your pet does not have access to toxic items like charcoal, glow sticks, fireworks, sparklers, and food items like avocados and fruit pits.
  • Secure all gates, doors, and fences to prevent pets from running away if they are startled.
  • During fireworks, keep your dog in a comfortable room. Turn on the radio or TV for familiar noise.
  • Be sure your pet is licensed and microchipped with your most current information.

Remember, the Fourth of July should be a time of celebration, but it’s crucial to prioritize the safety and well-being of our pets. By following these tips, you can help ensure that they have a stress-free and enjoyable holiday, away from the potential dangers of fireworks.
