This week’s San Bernardino County destination is Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch in Oro Grande near Victorville and Barstow.
This two-acre ranch was developed in the early 2000s by Elmer Long, the son of Elmer Long Sr., who was an aviation engineer in Manhattan Beach. Long and his father were avid collectors of colorful bottles. He decided to put the bottles to use by grabbing some old metal pipe and welding tree limbs for the bottles to sit on.
Today, Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch features 200 trees and more than 1,000 bottles! It’s located at 24266 National Trails Hwy. in Oro Grande and is free and open to the public.
