CalFresh is a benefit program which helps low‑income individuals and families buy the food they need. CalFresh benefits are provided on an electronic card that is used like an ATM or bank card to buy food at most grocery stores.

Allowable deductions can include housing costs, child support payments, child or dependent care payments and monthly medical expenses over $35 for elderly or disabled people. The amount left over after these deductions is called net income.
Current gross and net income limits can be found at http://wp.sbcounty.gov/tad/. Click on Programs > CalFresh > CalFresh Brochure Insert.
How much CalFresh can I get?
The amount of CalFresh benefits a person or family can receive is based on the size of the household and their net income after allowable deductions.
