The Older Californians Nutrition Program (OCNP), funded by the California Department of Aging and administered by San Bernardino County’s Department of Aging and Adult Services – Public Guardian (DAAS-PG), is enhancing the lives of older adults by providing nutritious meals and educational resources.

In 2023, OCNP celebrated the opening of a new meal site at Ayala Park Community Center, thanks to a collaboration between Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr., DAAS-PG, the county’s Special Districts, and contract service vendor Family Service Association. These OCNP special events have significantly boosted participation, with a remarkable 350% increase and 5,562 meals served, earning a prestigious 2024 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award.

This success is being replicated at nine more sites across the county this year, ensuring more seniors benefit from social engagement and improved health. DAAS-PG remains committed to enhancing choice, independence, and quality of life for our aging population through these valuable community partnerships.
