The Museum is a perfect place to bring out-of-town guests for a visit. A Museum outing is affordable and fun for all ages, and it’s a great way to share the cultural and natural heritage of our region with your visitors. A trip to the Museum is also a great way to offer children on winter break a chance to recharge their batteries with some hands-on learning.

Museum exhibits include “Welcome to Our World,” which illustrates the ways that animals and humans interact with the natural world. “Remembering Ramps” offers opportunities to look at everyday technology from the distant and not-so-distant past and to share your memories in the context of typewriters, cameras, and telephones. “Turn Left at the Rockies” invites you to explore California from the 1820s to 1850. See some dinosaurs in “Fossils Underfoot” and explore a sample of the third largest egg collection in the United States in our bird halls. And don’t forget to visit the polar bear in our Mammal Hall, and our live bunny, bugs, and reptiles in Exploration Station.

The Museum Store is a convenient place to pick up last-minute stocking-stuffers—and if you don’t have time to visit the galleries, you can ask for a shopping pass at the front desk for a quick shopping trip in the Store.

The San Bernardino County Museum’s exciting events and exhibits reflect the effort by the Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating arts, culture, and education in the county, creating quality of life for residents and visitors.

  1. Time for a change in the deplorable conditions at the Devoe Animal Shelter. Management needs to be immediately replaced since he is the sole person responsible for your county lighting up Facebook.

    1. Hi Edna, Thank you for contacting the County of San Bernardino regarding your concerns surrounding the care of homeless pets housed at the County’s animal shelter facility located in Devore. This facility maintains animals in a temperature controlled environment and utilizes both radiant overhead and subfloor heating to maintain the animals in warm temperature controlled kennels. The County’s animal shelter facility accepts both towels and blankets and provides bedding for special needs animals such as nursing mothers and their young. Animals housed in kennels also have elevated resting platforms, so the animal can rest above the heated floor surface if the animal desires. In addition, this facility heats the kennels and buildings with a combination of propane and electric heating elements and has a back-up generator in place to ensure heating is provided even during times in which a power outage may occur. The County appreciates this opportunity to clarify any inaccurate statements which may be circulating on social media and we hope you will encourage others to consider adopting a homeless pet from one of the County’s animal shelter facilities.
