The second annual Bloomington National Night Out on Tuesday drew more than 400 community residents to Ayala Park, providing an opportunity for County Sheriff and Fire, along with other local community and government agencies to meet, greet and interact with the public at a fun, free community event.
Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca Jr. and California State Assembly Majority Leader Emeritus Elóise Gomez Reyes (D-Colton) were both in attendance interacting and visiting with the community and all the department agencies. There was also a flyover by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s helicopter team that sparked cheers from the crowd.
With more than 30 booths, eventgoers got the chance to mingle and connect with local resources as well as enjoy many event activities. The Bloomington Recreation and Parks Department offered a water slide obstacle course, pop-up axe throwing game and a DJ. The Sheriff’s Department provided water balloon splash games, and the United States Marines had their pull-up bar challenge while the Sheriff’s Search & Rescue Team showcased one of their beautiful horses. Local vendors dished-up delicious food, treats and other goodies.
During the event, the assemblywoman presented a Certificate of Recognition to San Bernardino County for organizing the event.
The National Night Out event is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie on the first Tuesday in August.
