Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector (ATC) Ensen Mason is pleased to present another riveting story of the many great county residents that have served in his position since 1853.
Andrew Franklin McKenney, born in 1829, was a pioneer citizen of San Bernardino. He married Caroline Augusta Taylor and they had two children.
McKenney served as county clerk, recorder, and auditor from 1880 – 1882, and later served as an undersheriff. In honor of his memory, Franklin Street, which is located between Fifth and Sixth streets, was named after him. Most of the property on that block was owned by him at that time.
In 1888, McKenney passed away and was buried at the Pioneer Cemetery in San Bernardino. He was later removed and reburied at Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino after his wife passed away.
