In March, the crew from San Bernardino County Fire’s Medic Engine 231 in San Bernardino was honored with the Animal Welfare Hero Award by the American Red Cross Southern California Region for their courageous actions during the winter storms in January 2023.
Captain Andrew Bonhus, Engineer David Remery and Firefighter Andrew Oosamran rescued Seamus, a one-year-old Australian Shepherd, and safely reunited him with his family. Thank you to the American Red Cross for recognizing the work firefighters do to protect both our residents and their families, including their pets.
