California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) is a vital Human Services program aimed at providing essential aid and services to eligible needy families across all 58 counties in the state. Generally, services are available to:

  • Low-income families, where one or both parents are:
    • Absent
    • Unemployed
    • Disabled

You may apply for CalWORKs by:

  • Calling (877) 410-8829 to request an application be mailed to you
  • You may return it by dropping it off at an office, by mail or fax
  • Completing an application at a local transitional assistance office
