The Department of Aging and Adult Services – Public Guardian (DAAS-PG) is dedicated to helping older adults and at-risk individuals to improve or maintain choice, independence and quality of life. Did you know that DAAS-PG offers a wide variety of programs designed to help older adults, individuals with disabilities, their families and caretakers in our county?

Access to Technology provides free technological resources to bridge the digital divide for older adults and adults with disabilities. The program provides free Apple devices with a two-year service plan, access to training, education and customer support to eligible San Bernardino County residents, including those who are 60 years of age and older or 18 years of age and older with a disability. Adult Protective Services (APS) strives to prevent and remedy emotional, financial, physical and sexual abuse, and exploitation of older vulnerable adults, age 60 and older, and dependent adults, ages 18 to 59. For assistance, please contact our 24-hour hotline at 877-565-2020.

Age Wise is a non-traditional behavioral health program for high-risk older adults, age 59 and older, who may benefit from behavioral health and wellness services and who may be seeking assistance connecting to resources to meet basic needs. Homebound COVID-19 Vaccine Program provides the updated 2023-24 Moderna mRNA vaccine to homebound residents, their families and caretakers who are aged 5 years and older. Our services ensure that homebound individuals who cannot safely leave their residence are able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The current vaccine is a single dose vaccine for most people. Older adults aged 65 and older are eligible to receive a second dose. Please call 888- 743-1485 for assistance.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is designed to help pay for services provided to Medi-Cal eligible older adults, age 65 or older, and individuals with a disability or blindness so they can remain safely in their own home. You may contact our Central Intake Unit by calling 877-800-4544.

IHSS Provider Services are administered through IHSS Public Authority (IHSS-PA) by connecting care providers with clients that qualify for IHSS. Please reach out to Provider Services at 866-985-6322 for assistance.

Long-Term Care Ombudsmen are independent, trained and certified advocates for residents living in long-term care facilities. For assistance, please call 800-334-9473.

Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) aims to avoid or delay inappropriate placement of older adults, age 65 or older, in nursing facilities, while fostering independent living in the community. For more information, please call 877-565-2020.

Older Californian Nutrition Program provides balanced meals, nutrition education and counseling through congregate and home-delivered meal programs. Congregate and home-delivered meals are served throughout the county to eligible older adults, age 60 or older, spouses of older adults, and individuals with disabilities living with an eligible older adult. Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) ensures the financial and physical safety of incompetent and mentally disabled persons, who meet the criteria for conservatorship as determined by the Superior Court of California, when there are no viable alternatives to public conservatorship. Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) offers a pathway to employment through part-time, on-the-job training positions to qualified unemployed older adults, age 55 or older, residing in San Bernardino County, who meet federal low-income guidelines. Senior Information and Assistance (SIA) provides information, assistance, referrals to other agencies, and advocacy in contacting organizations and agencies for needed services and programs. For assistance, please call 800-510-2020.
