What is Head Start/Early Head Start?

Head Start and Early Head Start are free federal programs for pregnant women and children from birth to 5-years-old from income-eligible families. These programs offer comprehensive child development services, including educational activities based on a research-based curriculum. Children also receive medical and dental screenings, healthy meals and snacks, and opportunities for social interaction through planned indoor and outdoor activities in inclusive playgrounds.

Support for Children with Disabilities and Pregnant Mothers:

Children with disabilities are integrated into Head Start classes, ensuring inclusive education. Pregnant mothers receive ongoing health screenings and education from qualified staff to promote healthy births. The program provides activities to help children develop cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically, fostering good health habits, enjoying play, completing tasks with classmates, and preparing for kindergarten.
