The San Bernardino County Department of Veterans Affairs is dedicated to helping veterans and their families receive the benefits they’ve earned.

County Veteran Service Officers (VSO) are advocates for veterans. Their role is to provide veterans and their families with competent, high-quality representation that results in receiving all benefits that veterans have earned. All services are free.

ServiceDescription
Disability CompensationDisability Compensation is a monthly tax-free benefit paid to veterans who are at least 10% disabled because of injuries incurred in or aggravated during active duty, active duty for training, or inactive duty for training.
PensionVA helps veterans and their families cope with financial challenges by providing supplemental income through the Veterans Pension and Survivors Pension benefit programs. VA’s pension program provides monthly benefit payments to certain wartime veterans with financial need and their survivors.
VA HealthcareIf you served in the active military service and were separated under any condition other than dishonorable, you may qualify for VA healthcare.
Dependency & Indemnity Compensation (DIC)DIC is payable to certain survivors of: Service members who died during active service.Veterans who died from service-related disabilities.Certain veterans who were being paid 100% VA disability compensation at the time of death.
College Tuition Fee WaiverThe College Tuition Fee Waiver for Veteran Dependents benefit waives mandatory system-wide tuition and fees at any California Community College, California State University or University of California campus.
VA Burial BenefitsVA offers certain benefits and services to honor our nation’s deceased veterans.
