Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector Ensen Mason is pleased to present another fascinating story of the many great county residents that have served in his position since 1853.
Jocelyn Cox was featured in the “Who’s Who in American Women” series in recognition of her professional achievements. After graduating high school, she began a career in banking in Plainfield, N.J. She married and moved to Fontana in 1925, where she worked in various roles including positions at banks, private businesses, an insurance company and Fontana’s Community News.
Cox’s career took off in 1937 when she began working in the Auditor’s office. For eleven years, she was responsible for accounting, disbursing, auditing and budget control. During her tenure, she served as Auditor-Controller from 1958 to 1971. In 1969, over one million checks totaling $500,000,000 required her signature.
