Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector (ATC) Ensen Mason is pleased to present another riveting story of the many great county residents that have served in his position since 1853.

John H. “Jack” Bulmer was elected auditor-controller, a position he held from 1971 to 1979 after serving as assistant auditor-controller.

He was a World War II veteran who flew 36 missions as a B-29 pilot in Japan with the Air Force.

In addition to his public service and military career, he was also active in his community. He was a past master of the San Bernardino Masonic Lodge and was actively involved in Scottish Rite Temple, Order of the Easter Star, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War and the Civilian Conservation Corps alumni.

He passed away from pneumonia at the age of 74, and his funeral service was held at Riverside National Cemetery. Many of his San Bernardino County colleagues described him as “professional and very knowledgeable.” He was highly regarded throughout the county.
