Alger Creek is a beautiful natural stream in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. The hike begins in Forest Falls at the Momeyer Creek trailhead. To access the trail, you will need to cross Mill Creek, but use caution because it’s not always accessible due to the water level being too high. Follow the trail for about 3.7 miles. As you pass through the trail, you will see oak trees and beautiful lookout points with views of Mill Creek and the Yucaipa Ridge. The trail is steep, so bring plenty of water. Spring is the best time to go before it gets too hot. During the summer months, the trail may have a lot of bugs and is known for snakes. A permit is required to hike on the trail, but the permit is free and can be obtain online at sgwa.org.
