Join Regional Parks for Hot Summer Nights

Join Regional Parks as we celebrate Hot Summer Nights on Saturday, August 9, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Yucaipa Regional Park for some summer sizzlin’ games, activities, live music and food trucks. Stick around for our first ever Drone Light Show! Get ready to witness the night sky come alive with dazzling lights, synchronized movement and breathtaking designs—all from a fleet of glowing drones! All ages are welcome! Leashed pets are welcome too! Bring your chairs, blankets, snacks and set up for a relaxing afternoon at beautiful Yucaipa.
Free community clean-up event for San Bernardino residents

San Bernardino County Code Enforcement and Solid Waste Management Divisions will be providing bulky trash collection containers for the FREE disposal of accumulated trash, e-waste, tires and on-site confidential document shredding for unincorporated residents only. No business materials will be accepted. Free disposal services will end at noon or when the equipment is full.
- This program is limited to the residents of the unincorporated county area.
- We cannot accept commercial or industrial waste from businesses. Please remember to safely secure and properly cover your loads prior to traveling to the event.
- If you are bringing waste tires, please limit your load to a maximum of nine tires. (State Law prohibits hauling of more than 9 tires, unless an exemption is granted. Please call us for more information). Tires on rims willbe accepted.
Please note: You are required to unload your own waste materials.
If you have oversized, loose, or hard-to-handle loads, you may be turned away to dispose of your waste materials at your own expense.
We will accept household trash, bulky items green waste, and vehicle tires, (we do notaccept concrete).
The Urban Conservation Corps will be present to accept electronics (TVs, computer monitors, VCRs, stereos, cell phones and more).
We cannot accept hazardous waste. This includes motor oil and oil filters, antifreeze, gasoline, drain cleaner, pesticides, fertilizers, fluorescent lights, wood preservatives, pool and hobby supplies, auto/furniture polish, paint thinners, paint products, medications, or similar products.

County Museum invites teachers to their first-ever educator open house

San Bernardino County Museum (SBCM) is proud to host its first annual educator open house on Thursday, Aug. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the museum in Redlands. This free event is open to all K-12 educators, school administrators, curriculum coordinators and homeschool networks throughout the Inland Empire and beyond.
Designed with educators in mind, the open house offers a hands-on introduction to the museum’s wide range of field trip opportunities, loan kits, STEAM-based programming and educational partnerships. Attendees will have the chance to preview interactive exhibits, explore classroom resources, and engage directly with education staff to learn how to integrate museum content into their lesson plans.
“This event is our way of thanking educators for the work they do and showing them how the museum can be a partner in their classrooms,” said Erica Watkins, museum educator at SBCM. “We’re excited to share new programs and tools that bring local culture, history, and science to life for students.”

Join us at National Night Out at Ayala Park in Bloomington
Board of Supervisors Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Fontana Station invite you to attend National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Ayala Park, located at 17911 Marygold Ave., Bloomington.
Enjoy an evening of community fun featuring local service groups, county partners, tasty food trucks, inflatable games and more! As part of the event, Ayala Park will unveil its new Veterans Monument.
This annual campaign strengthens the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while celebrating community spirit.

Victor Valley Museum’s Second Saturdays soar with “Flying High Kite Creations”

Families are invited to let their creativity take flight at Victor Valley Museum’s (VVM) upcoming Second Saturdays program, “Flying High: Kite Creations,” happening on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 11 a.m.
Part of the museum’s popular monthly Second Saturdays series was designed to ignite imagination and spark hands-on learning. This fun-filled program invites visitors of all ages to build and decorate their own custom kites while exploring the science behind flight, wind and aerodynamics. Museum staff will guide guests through the process, blending art, engineering and play.
“This event brings together creativity and STEM in a way that kids and families can truly enjoy,” said Curator of Visitor Engagement Tiffany Talavera. “It’s the perfect opportunity to connect, craft and learn something new.”
Materials for the kite making workshop will be included in regular museum admission. Don’t forget that frozen treats will be available for purchase too! Family fun guaranteed! Victor Valley Museum announces a new exhibition; Here Comes the Sun: Solar Science and Spirituality

Victor Valley Museum (VVM) is excited to bring the long-awaited exhibition, Here Comes the Sun: Solar Science & Spirituality, an awe-inspiring imagery experience to visitors through a floor-to-ceiling projection with footage of the sun provided by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The exhibit will open on Saturday, Aug. 2 and run through Sunday, Nov. 23.
This original, thought-provoking exhibition invites visitors to explore the profound relationship between humanity and the sun — blending the rigor of science with the richness of spiritual and cultural traditions from around the region.
Here Comes the Sun brings together regional artifacts, an interactive display, and immersive experiences that celebrate the sun as both a star at the center of our solar system and a powerful symbol across the county.
“This exhibition is more than just a scientific journey,” said Dr. Casey Lee, curator of art and exhibits. “It’s an exploration of how the sun has shaped our beliefs, our environment, and our future. Visitors will leave with a deeper appreciation for the sun’s role in both the natural world and human culture.”
Highlights of the exhibition include:
- An immersive floor-to-ceiling projection of Solarium provided by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory.
- SBCM collection artifacts from archaeology, earth sciences, history and integrated biology on how they have been impacted or played a role by the sun.
- A hands-on interactive plasma ball.

Relax in our shaded outdoor courtyard with your own picnic lunch and enjoy the museum’s tranquil desert gardens, a historic train, and mining exhibits.
